NEW JAL GROUP C.E.O. DESIGNATED - TOSHIYUKI SHINMACHI

TOKYO MARCH 10: Toshiyuki Shinmachi, currently president of Japan Airlines Corporation, the JAL Group holding company, was designated JAL Group C.E.O. today. The appointment is subject to the approval of the general meeting of stockholders in late June. He will continue as president in the meantime.

He will take over from Isao Kaneko, who is currently JAL Group chairman and C.E.O.

Mr. Kaneko is designated JAL Group chairman, subject to the annual shareholders' meeting approval.
