JAL To Open Safety Development Center

Tokyo, Friday January 27, 2006: The JAL Group is to establish a Safety Development Center featuring exhibits from incidents and accidents as an aid to safety awareness education and to contribute to building a safety culture within the aviation industry.

The Center, located in the maintenance district of Tokyo's Haneda Airport, will open in April 2006. Exhibits will include photographs, charts and other items from a JAL 747-accident in August 1985 including the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder and other items..

An archive will also be established in the center providing case histories of accident and incidents for reference and study.

JAL will use the center for employee education and for the public to learn about aviation safety.
