TOKYO April 19, 2013: JAL Group (JAL) announced today, the passenger traffic forecast for the annual Japanese “Golden Week” vacation that spans 11 days this year from Friday, April 26 to Monday, May6, 2013.
Capacity during this period is 3.1% more on international routes and 4.0% more on domestic routes compared to 2012. The number of reservations on JAL’s international flights is currently 243,343 while domestically, bookings have reached 876,711 to date. These represent a decrease in the number of international bookings by 1.9% and an increase in the number of domestic bookings by 1.5% respectively against the same vacation period last year.
The total passenger reservations on international JAL flights to all regions have decreased approximately 2.0% compared to 2012, due to the decline in demand on China and Korea routes owing to territorial issues. On the other hand, the seat load factor on routes to resort destinations as well as Transpacific and Taiwan routes increased against the last year.
Domestically, no extra flights are scheduled to be operated during this period so far.
