Japan Airlines to Introduce Select Spring Menu in JAL's Exclusive Restaurant in the Sky

TOKYO February 25, 2014: Japan Airlines (JAL) has been introducing enhanced in-flight meals on North America and Europe routes, Australia route and Southeast Asia routes, with the meal service concept of an exclusive restaurant in the sky since January 2013.

Japanese Chef SHINICHI SATO, new member of a dream team of star chefs for JAL BEDD-SKY AUBERGE, creates Western 1st meals for First Class and Business Class on flights from Paris to Japan.

Starting from March 1, 2014, the 12th installment of popular AIR SERIES and well-liked "Ore-no Kinaishoku for Resort" of spring menu on Hawaii route, will be introduced as one of the menus at “JAL KITCHEN GALLERY” served in Premium Economy and Economy Class.

JAL will continue seeking ways to bring passengers a unique and completely refreshing onboard experience through more delectable meal choices in its flying restaurant.

1.      First Class and Business Class

New collaboration menus onboard flights from Paris to Japan
Two world renowned Japanese chefs, Mr. HIROKI YOSHITAKE and Mr. SHINICHI SATO joined the dream team of star chefs for JAL BEDD-SKY AUBERGE in December 2013. The menu from December 2013 was created by Chef HIROKI YOSHITAKE, Executive Chef of "Sola" in Paris, who received a Michelin one star rating for France, and we have received many good customer reviews about this collaboration, as the menu is created by world renowned chef and its delicious taste like the meals served in the restaurant.
The menu from March 2014 is created by Chef SHINICHI SATO, Executive Chef of "Passage 53" in Paris, who is the first Japanese to receive a Michelin two star rating for France.
The dessert is created especially for this collaboration menu by Mr. Jean-Paul Hévin who is one of the world- top-class chocolatier. We will serve this delightful dessert specialized for JAL’s Paris route.

2.      Premium Economy and Economy Class
(1)"Ore-no Kinaishoku for Resort" on Hawaii route (Spring menu)

The "Ore-no Kinaishoku" menu created in collaboration with "Ore-no Italian" and "Ore-no French" has been introduced in Economy Class on Hawaii flights since September 2013. We have received many good customer reviews about this collaboration, as the taste is the same as meals served in the restaurants.
The new spring menu will be created by two talented chefs, Mr. KAZUHIDE NOSE and Mr. TOSHIHIRO YAMAURA. The menu consists of a combination of French cuisine and Italian cuisine on a tray, created especially for JAL.

Ore-no Appetizer “Vichyssoise and Red Bell Pepper Mousse”
Ore-no Dessert “Apple Caramel Cake”

(2)The 12th installment of AIR SERIES-"VEGETABLE AIR MOS BURGER"

Passengers will be served warm buns and a hamburger patty wrapped in a special burger wrap, three kinds of vegetables (lettuce, tomato, sliced onion) and original carrot sauce so that they can arrange and make their own hamburger. The vegetables are produced by MOS BURGER’s contracted farmers in Japan and carefully selected by MOS BURGER. It is a refreshing meal to take before arriving at your destination.
