JAL & Emirates Code Share Agreement on Nagoya - Dubai Route
Tokyo, Tuesday May 9, 2006: Japan Airlines (JAL), Asia's largest airline group, and Emirates (EK), the international airline of the United Arab Emirates, have agreed to expand their code share partnership between Japan and Dubai.
From June 1, 2006 the code share agreement, subject to government approval, allows JAL to place its flight code on round trip flights operated by Emirates between Nagoya's Chubu International Airport, popularly known as Centrair, and Dubai International Airport. On this day, Emirates will launch direct non-stop services four times a week - every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday - between the two airports, expanding into a daily operation from July 1, 2006.
The new code share agreement also includes JAL domestic connecting flights to and from Fukuoka and Sapporo with smooth through check in with the JAL-Emirates Nagoya to Dubai operation.
Tickets for the new code share flights are expected to go on sale on May 9, 2006, subject to government apporval.
The two airlines already code share on Emirates' daily non-stop service between Kansai International Airport, Osaka and Dubai, as well as on JAL domestic connecting flights operating between Kansai and Tokyo, Sapporo and Fukuoka.
By strengthening their code sharing partnership, JAL and Emirates, are building an extensive network to increase customer convenience. The new flights will improve business and tourist access to the Middle East from Japan.
In addition to the code share flights, JAL and Emirates frequent flyer programs (FFP) are linked, enabling members of the JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) and Emirates' Skywards FFP to earn miles on each other's international flights.
