JAL Resumes Code-share on Osaka - Istanbul flights
Tokyo, Tuesday June 13, 2006: From June 14, 2006, JAL resumes it code-share agreement on flights operated by Turkish Airlines (TK) between Osaka (Kansai) and Istanbul.
JAL started code-sharing on non-stop flights operated by Turkish Airlines (TK) between Osaka (Kansai) and Istanbul in October 1997.
The code-share agreement on this route temporarily ended when the Turkey's national carrier suspended its services between Osaka and Istanbul on December 2003 due to flagging demand.
After a two and half year hiatus, Turkish Airlines starts flying non-stop three times a week between the two cities from June 14, 2006, enabling JAL to resume it is code-share partnership on this route.
JAL also code-shares on the three times a week service Turkish Airlines operates between Tokyo and Istanbul. The agreement between these two cities came into effect in November 1998.
Members of JAL Mileage Bank (JMB), JAL's frequent flier program, can accumulate JMB mileage on both these routes as long as they purchase a ticket using JL code-share flight numbers, booked in an applicable class of travel.
