Tokyo, Friday October 20, 2006: Japan Airlines (JAL) has been voted the `Best North Asian Airline' by travel professionals in the 17th Travel Trade Gazette (TTG) Annual Travel Awards 2006. Additionally, the airline's business class, JAL Executive Class, was voted one of the best on trans-pacific routes by business travelers in the 9th Annual Conde Nast Traveler Business Travel Awards 2006.

Haruka Nishimatsu, JAL Group President and CEO said, `we are extremely pleased to receive such valuable endorsements from the travel professional community, and passengers. The awards are testimony to the hard work of all our staff, who are dedicated to providing our customers, and business partners in the travel industry with the highest levels of service.'

Between July 2006 and August 2006, travel agents, tour operators and destination management companies in the Asia-Pacific were invited by TTG to select the `top performers' in the travel industry over the year for the 17th TTG Annual Travel Awards 2006. Over 7,800 travel professionals registered their votes online or completed printed questionnaires, which appeared in such publications as TTG Asia and TTG China.

Voters nominated JAL the `Best North Asian Airline': the best airline based in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Macau or Hong Kong operating Asia-Pacific routes. Voters were asked to make their decision based on listed criteria, such as which airline in the region they deemed provided the best service, and network; was the most agent-friendly in terms of reservations; and had the most professional sales and marketing teams in terms of innovative ideas, and servicing.

Established in 1989, the awards are organized annually by TTG Asia, which has been providing news to the travel trade in Asia for over 30 years.
