JAL Group Passenger Traffic Forecast in 2007 Golden Week Vacation Period

Tokyo April 20, 2007: Japan Airlines Group today announced that travel demand for the traditional Japanese “GOLDEN WEEK'' vacation, stretching this year from April 27 to May 6, is forecast to yield positive results on international and domestic routes. The number of international passenger reservations for Japan flight departures in the period is presently up by 1.2%, and domestic passenger reservations are up by 2.9% on the same period in 2006.

International passenger reservations during the 10-day period, made up by a combination of public holidays and weekends, currently stand at 370,192 in total, up 1.2% on the same vacation period last year. The forecast seat load factor is 68.9%. Last year in the same period, the JAL Group carried 365,742 international Golden Week passengers.

Passenger reservations to China, Guam, Southeast Asia and South Korea are up respectively by 11.9%, 13.6%, 7.2% and 14.0% when compared to the same period last year.

During FY2006 the year ending March 31, 2007, JAL reduced scheduled flight frequency on routes serving Australia and the US. This capacity reduction accounts for the decrease in the number of seats available on JAL for travel to these tourist destinations.

At present there are high seat load factors on Hawaii, and Transpacific routes: 80.0%, and 87.3% respectively.

Domestic picture

JAL Group domestic Golden Week passenger reservations total 1,254,438, 2.9%, up on the same vacation period last year.

JAL Group plans to operate an additional 24 flights on domestic Japan routes to accommodate increased demand for travel to Okinawa (Naha), as well as Sapporo.

At present the domestic Japan seat load factor forecast is 66.2%.
