JAL Introduces Premium Economy Service on Tokyo - Sydney Route

Tokyo, November 10, 2009: Japan Airlines (JAL) will introduce Premium Economy service on the Tokyo (Narita) - Sydney route starting from December 1, 2009. The once-daily flight, also equipped with the airline’s JAL Shell Flat Seat in executive class is operated with a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.

The JAL Sky Shell Seat, which won the 2008 Good Design Award, is the world’s first shell-shaped seat in premium economy class. It boasts a 9-inch personal TV screen and provides 20% more legroom than regular economy class with its shell-shaped sliding seat-back design which ensures passengers’ private space is maintained throughout the flight, undisturbed even when the seat in front is reclined.

ImagePassengers will also be pampered with a range of special light snacks and beverages provided onboard, and at the airport, they can take advantage of the dedicated Premium Economy check-in service at both Sydney and Tokyo, along with access to the airport lounge.

The Premium Economy class is also available on routes between Tokyo (Narita) and JAL’s main gateways in Europe - London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris and Moscow, as well as the 4 destinations in mainland USA served by the airline: New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Special introductory [Sydney = Tokyo] return fares on sale in Australia start from AU$1500 and promotional [Tokyo = Sydney] return fares on sale in Japan start from JPY147,000 (all fares excluding taxes).
