Japan Airlines' Haneda International Flights Take Off from October 31

Tokyo, June 30, 2010: The JAL Group (JAL) today unveiled the schedule of its international flights at Haneda Airport from which it will inaugurate 7 daily flights to 6 international destinations - Paris, San Francisco, Honolulu, Bangkok, Taipei’s Songshan airport and Singapore, from October 31, 2010. Reservation and ticket sales will begin tomorrow. *Note* Bookings and sales on JAL’s overseas websites will be made available at a later date.

At present, JAL flies 5 times daily to 4 short-haul Asian cities from Haneda namely Seoul (Gimpo), Shanghai (Hongqiao), Beijing and Hong Kong. Counting the new international routes and an increase in 1 daily flight to Gimpo this autumn, JAL will be operating a total of 10 international routes with 13 daily flights.

“Haneda Airport is conveniently located in the heart of Tokyo and will be opened round-the-clock, greatly enhancing the convenience of travelers,” said JAL President and Chief Operating Officer Masaru Onishi. “Furthermore, with JAL’s extensive domestic operations at the hub, passengers can make smooth connections from our new international flights to many other destinations in Japan. We intend to fully utilize Haneda’s strategic advantages for operations to Europe, America and Asia as we constantly seek to improve the traveling experience of our customers.”

The late-night flights from Haneda to Europe, America and long-haul Asia will complement existing day-time services at Narita to these regions and greatly expand flight options to meet the demands of business travelers with convenient flight timings. The schedule at Haneda Airport - accessible from downtown Tokyo in 30 minutes by car or train, is also ideal for leisure travelers wanting to depart from Japan, bound for a resort destination at the end of a workday and who want to maximize the most of their time overseas with a late return back to Japan.

Operations at Haneda’s new international terminal will start running from October 21, 2010, and JAL has prepared a host of new services exclusively for its passengers.

Smooth Transfers between International and Domestic Terminals

Terminal 1, in which JAL’s domestic operations are concentrated at, is nearest to the international terminal thereby allowing quicker transfers of baggage and people. Further enhancing the linkage, JAL will provide a direct shuttle bus service passing through a tunnel beneath the runway, transporting customers of JAL and its partner airlines between the 2 terminals in just 8 minutes each way.

Passengers with a connection from domestic airports in Japan to international flights at Haneda will be able to check-through their baggage for the entire journey. Passengers transferring from international flights onto domestic flights are required to pick up their baggage and check them in at the domestic check-in counter located at the international terminal, following which they can take the shuttle bus to the domestic terminal for their next flight with only their carry-on baggage.

Direct Boarding Style - JAL Print & Go, and Touch & Go Services

Pioneered by JAL in 2005 for domestic travelers within Japan, JAL’s direct boarding service allows passengers to cut waiting time by bypassing the check-in counters at the airport and to board their flight in 3 simple steps.

For the first time from October 21, 2010, this well-received service will be introduced to international travelers departing from Haneda. When passengers who hold electronic tickets for JAL flights check in online using JAL’s Web Check-in service, they may choose to use JAL’s Print & Go service which allows passengers to print an Online Boarding Pass, or JAL’s Touch & Go service from which they will receive a Mobile Boarding Pass at the mobile phone address provided. At the airport, passengers can use either of these boarding passes which have 2D barcodes to proceed through security inspections if they have no check-in baggage, and head straight to the boarding gate.

Fast Baggage Drop Counters accepting check-in baggage for Print & Go and Touch & Go users will also be set up at the new terminal.

*Touch & Go service is only available at Haneda airport while Print & Go service is also available at select JAL on-line airports.

** Touch & Go service is only applicable to mobile phones supported by Japan-based mobile phone operators.
