JAL Group Traffic Forecast for 2010 Summer Vacation Period

TokyoJuly 30, 2010: The JAL Group today announced projected figures for international and domestic passenger traffic for the Japanese summer vacation stretching from August 6 to August 15 this year.

 

The JAL Group estimated there are 324,473 passenger bookings for international flights during the 10 days, down by 11% on the same period last year against a sharp reduction in the overall capacity by 17.6%. Load factors on round-trip international flights to all regions are forecast to be more than 83%, with transpacific flights, flights to Hawaii, Guam and South Korea projecting high load factors of 92.5%, 97.5%, 92.9% and 92.0% respectively.

 

During this peak season, JAL will operate 12 extra flights to destinations in Europe including for the first time to Nice and Warsaw. 29 additional flights are also planned for Alaska, Honolulu, Palau, Denpasar (Bali), Cebu and Sanya.

 

JAL Group domestic reservations during this period totaled 931,710, a 12.3% decline versus a year ago. Seat supply on domestic routes is planned to be reduced by 10.1% compared to the same period last year, leading to an estimated load factor of 55.2%. JAL will operate 42 extra flights this summer to key vacation destinations like Okinawa and Sapporo from Haneda.
