JAL Group Traffic Results for 2010 Summer Vacation Period

TokyoAugust 16, 2010: The JAL Group today announced international and domestic passenger traffic results for the Japanese summer vacation that stretched from August 6 to August 15 this year.

The JAL Group carried a total of 325,498 passengers on international flights during the 10 days, down by 11.9% on the same period last year followed by a sharp reduction in the overall capacity by 17.7%. Load factor for international flights increased 5.9 percentage points to 89.2% this year and on flights to all regions except Southeast Asia, which was at 84.8%, were above 88%. Flights to and from Hawaii had the highest load factor at 95.2%, while routes to Guam and Korea also performed well at 90.9% and 90.8% respectively.

During this peak season, JAL operated 12 extra flights to destinations in Europe including for the first time to Nice and Warsaw, as well as 24 additional flights to Alaska, Honolulu, Palau, Denpasar (Bali), Cebu and Sanya.

JAL Group carried a total of 1,146,315 passengers domestically during this period, which is 10.8% less number of travelers compared to a year ago. Seat supply, measured by the number of available seats, was 8.2% decline from last year, with a load factor is 68.1%. JAL operated 42 extra flights this summer to key vacation destinations like Okinawa and Sapporo from Haneda.
