JAL Group Passenger Traffic Forecast for 2012 Golden Week Vacation Period

TOKYO April 20, 2011:JAL Group (JAL) announced today, the passenger traffic forecast for the annual Japanese “Golden Week” vacation that spans 10 days this year from Friday, April 27 to Sunday, May 6, 2012.

Capacity during this period is 5.3% more on international routes and 7.2% more on domestic routes compared to 2011. The number of reservations on JAL’s international flights is currently 223,910 while domestically, bookings have reached 815,528 to date. These represent anincrease in the number of international and domestic bookings by 24.0% and 17.2% respectively, against the same vacation period last year which was less than two months following the Great East Japan Earthquake in March.

Traffic figures on international JAL flights to all regions have improved significantly from a year ago. Also owing to the strength of the Japanese yen, resort destinations such Hawaii and Guam, as well as South East Asia, are attracting many travelers this year, leading to an increase in international load factors by 12 percentage points to 79.4%.

Domestically, 61 extra flights are scheduled to be operated during this period and thus far, the total domestic load factor is 5 percentage points up year-on-year, with indications that Okinawa and Hokkaido are especially popular.
