JAL Group Passenger Traffic Results for 2015 Golden Week Vacation Period

TOKYO May 7, 2015:JAL Group (JAL) today announced its passenger traffic results for the annual Japanese “Golden Week” vacation that stretched from Tuesday, April 28 to Wednesday, May 6, 2015.

Compared to holiday period last year, capacity during this period is 0.3% more on international routes and 3.1% less on domestic routes. JAL carried a total of 229,419 passengers on its international flights and 869,769 passengers on the Group’s domestic flights, which represent an 8.6% increase in travellers that went abroad, and 6.7% increase in travel within the country versus a year ago.

The seat load factor for JAL flights on Hawaii route is around 90.0% and approximately 94.0% for flights to and from Guam, thanks to the growing demand from Japan to leisure destinations compared to 2014. Total seat load factor for international routes during this period, was improved because of a significantly restoring travel demand on Southeast Asia routes and growing demands on China and Korea routes.

Within Japan, JAL offered capacity approximately 3.0% down than last year, but the seat load factor is more than seven percentage points up compared to last year with sales of encouraging fares such as “Sakitoku” discount fare tickets etc. Especially on Hokkaido and Kyushu routes, the seat load factor increased greatly compared to last year.
