JAL NEW・JAPAN PROJECT Japan Airlines Supports the Promotion of Kyusyu Honkaku Shochu
The first installment: JAL and Miyazaki Prefecture~
Tokyo, March 16, 2016: As one initiative in JAL NEW・JAPAN PROJECT(*1), Japan Airlines (JAL) launched a campaign to promote “Kyusyu Honkaku Shochu” (Japanese distilled Liquor) to the world, starting March 2016.
(*1) JAL NEW・JAPAN PROJECT launched in September 2015 by Japan Airlines with the aim of supporting sustainable development of regional economies in cooperation with local government in Japan.
Although Shochu is the most popular liquor in Japan, this original beverage is not widely known by overseas. JAL will be making full efforts to support Japanese Shochu makers to introduce this high quality Japanese distilled liquor to more foreign customers, and deliver the Japanese culture worldwide.
As the first installment, JAL is promoting Shochu from Miyazaki Prefecture (*2) with the activities as follows.
(*2) Miyazaki Prefecture is located on the island of Kyushu, Japan.
Kyusyu Honkaku Shochu to be served in JAL international airport lounges at Tokyo’s Haneda and Narita International Airports
Selected Kyusyu Honkaku Shochu will be provided in JAL International First Class Lounge and Sakura Lounge at Tokyo’s Haneda and Narita Airports from June to August 2016.
Promotion
A story about Kyusyu Honkaku Shochu will be published in JAL in-flight magazine--“SKYWARD” and “AGORA” which is provided in the international First Class. Also, a promotion video will be shown on JAL’s international flights. Additionally Kyushu Honkaku Shochu will be promoted by JAL’s Facebook and Twitter.
Sales Support
The products provided at the lounges will be available in JAL’s in-flight duty free shop (JAL SHOP), and mail order service (JAL SHOPPING) in the future (scheduled in winter of 2016).
JAL will be making efforts to take various measures to vitalize local economies by supporting it their branding promotion and sales to the world.
