JAL NEW・JAPAN PROJECT JAL Introduces Japanese Sightseeing Information on Its International Flights
~The first installment is to introduce Okayama Prefecture~
Tokyo March 22, 2016: As one initiative in JAL NEW・JAPAN PROJECT(*1), Japan Airlines (JAL) decided to introduce Japanese sightseeing videos in the in-flight entertainment on select international flights. These sightseeing videos (in English subtitles) were developed by local governments for providing overseas customers with the related travel information across Japan.
(*1) JAL NEW・JAPAN PROJECT launched in September 2015 by Japan Airlines with the aim of supporting sustainable development of regional economies in cooperation with local government in Japan.
As the first installment, the video about Okayama Prefecture (*2) will be introduced on JAL international flights between April 1 and June 30, 2016. JAL will introduce beautiful scenery and history of Okayama to overseas customers through its in-flight entertainment service. Additionally JAL’s special discounted fare to overseas tourists for domestic flights -- “Japan Explorer Pass” can be used for traveling to and from Okayama.
(*2) Okayama Prefecture is located at the center of the ancient Sanyo Highway area with Hiroshima Prefecture adjoining to the west.
Okayama Prefectural Governor Ryuta Ibaragi said: “We hope that many foreigners will visit Okayama, and appreciate that JAL has given us an opportunity to let them know the tourist attraction of Okayama, the Land of Sunshine.”
“Following the growth of inbound traffic, Japan Airlines will provide overseas customers with more information about local sightseeing spots through introduction video in JAL’s in-flight entertainment service,” said Masaru Onishi, Chairman of Japan Airlines. “JAL is striving to provide customers with more convenient services and support the development of local economies as well.”

◆ Running Period of the Video : April 1 ~ June 30, 2016
(In-flight video will be changed every three months after July.)
◆ Applicable Routes : About 40 international routes
- Europe routes including London, Paris and Moscow
- North America routes including New York, Los Angeles and Boston
- Asia routes including Delhi, Singapore, Bangkok and Hanoi
Note: These video channels are set in only JAL in-flight entertainment system MAGIC-V and MAGIC-VI.

“Explorer Okayama, the Land of Sunshine” with highlights of Okayama in spring such as:
- The Kurashiki Bikan Area -- a retro-modern cityscape
- Okayama Korakuen Garden -- one of three great gardens in Japan (about four-minute video with English subtitles)
