New “JAL & HARUKA” Air and Rail Product On Sale from Late-April For Visitors Traveling between Los Angeles and Kyoto
～Enjoy a smoother trip to Kyoto when combining JAL air and JR rail tickets～
Osaka March 29, 2016: Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “JAL”) and West Japan Railway Company (hereinafter “JR West”) announced today that a specially priced, combined air and rail ticket product called “JAL & HARUKA” will be available for sale in the American Region starting late-April. The new product will allow customers to purchase a JAL-operated nonstop air ticket between Los Angeles and Kansai International Airport (KIX) together with a JR West rail ticket on the “HARUKA” express train that directly connects KIX with Kyoto Station (UKY).
“JAL & HARUKA” is the first combined air and rail ticket product available for travel in Japan. The new product will be available by booking the required JAL air and express train “HARUKA” rail segments via most GDS (Global Distribution System) utilized by travel agencies. This will allow for a single e-ticket that includes both air and rail* segments.
(*)HARUKA sector will be booked using AccesRail (9B) flight numbers. AccessRail is an IATA travel partner with specializing in the intermodal travel experience.
Additionally, customers can print their boarding pass for the “HARUKA” express train in advance via a designated website, alleviating the extra step of exchanging /purchasing rail tickets at KIX and UKY stations.
“JAL & HARUKA” was created by JAL and JR West to provide customer convenience and to help as many travelers as possible enjoy a seamless travel experience when visiting Kyoto, one of the most visited destinations in Japan by international travelers. The companies will continue to strengthen their collaboration to further stimulate demand and to promote travel to destinations throughout Western Japan from Kansai International Airport.

4. Sold at JAL American Region Reservation Center “Ticket Service” and JAL appointed travel agents
*JAL, JR West and Kyoto plan to conduct joint sales promotions in the North American region.
