JAL Group Passenger Traffic Forecast for 2016 Golden Week Vacation Period
TOKYO April 22, 2016:The JAL Group (JAL) announced today, its passenger traffic forecast for the annual Japanese “Golden Week” vacation period, which spans 11 days this year from Thursday, April 28 to Sunday, May 8, 2016.
Capacity during this period is 0.1% more on international routes and 1.0% lower on domestic routes compared to 2015. The number of passenger reservations on JAL’s international flights is currently 265,671 while domestically, bookings have reached 885,720 to date. These represent adecrease in the number of international bookings by 0.8% and an increase of domestic bookings by 0.9% respectively against the same period last year.
International Routes
- Southeast Asia and Europe routes see good demand during this vacation period compared to 2015.
- Total booking factor remains flat compared to the year-ago period.
Domestic Routes
- Passenger reservations and booking factor show a promising growth than last year. Peak days are April 29 and May 5. Passenger reservations on Chugoku and Shikoku routes are increased greatly than last year.
