Sightseeing PR Videos from All Over Japan onboard JAL International Flights
~ The second installment introduces Hakodate, the Okhotsk region and Nagasaki Prefecture~
Tokyo June 24, 2016: As one initiative in JAL NEW・JAPAN PROJECT(*1), Japan Airlines (JAL) has begun introducing Japanese sightseeing videos in the in-flight entertainment on select international flights since April 2016. These sightseeing videos (in English subtitles) were developed by local governments for providing overseas customers with the related travel information across Japan.
(*1) JAL NEW・JAPAN PROJECT launched in September 2015 by Japan Airlines with the aim of supporting sustainable development of regional economies in cooperation with local government in Japan.
As the second installment, JAL will increase the number of informative videos from the current one to three between July and September. The airline will introduce Hakodate, a beautiful city and port, and the Okhotsk region, a popular summer resort both located in Hokkaido, in addition to Nagasaki Prefecture who has many churches and Christian sites, which have been proposed to be included on the World Heritage List.
JAL will continue to make efforts to invigorate the local economy and stimulate the travel demand through its air transport business.
Running Period of the Videos: July 1 ~ September 30, 2016
Applicable Routes: About 40 international routes
- Europe routes including London, Moscow and Paris
- North America routes including Boston, New York and Los Angeles
- Asia routes including Bangkok, Delhi, Hanoi and Singapore
Note: These video channels are set in only JAL in-flight entertainment system MAGIC-V and MAGIC-VI.
Contents:
1. Hakodate City Promotional Movie (around six minutes)
The sightseeing spots in Hakodate, delicious food and seasonal landscape are introduced. (Both audio and subtitle in English)

A non-Japanese model traveling in the Okhotsk region introduces the grand nature and independent culture and festivals.

Including UNESCO Status awarded Gunkanjima, this video will introduce the historical streets with the feeling of being in a different country out of Japan, and popular sightseeing spots. (Subtitle in English)
