JAL Group Traffic Results for 2016 Summer Vacation Period
TOKYO August 22, 2016: JAL Group (JAL) today announced passenger traffic results for the Japanese summer vacation period that spanned from August 10 to August 21, 2016. JAL carried a total of 331,078 passengers on its international flights during the 12-day stretch, and a total of 1,406,496 passengers domestically.
With 0.1% more seats offered on international routes this year, the number of passengers carried by JAL to and from overseas rose 2.0%, leading to raise the seat load factor 1.7 points to 92.2% compared to the same period last year. JAL also operated a total of four extra flights between Tokyo (Narita) and Honolulu, and one chartered flight between Narita and Honolulu during this peak season.
Domestically, the number of passengers increased 5.2% in comparison to the same period last year. The overall load factor rose by approx. 5.3 percentage points to 85.5%. JAL also operated 80 extra flights, mainly to popular destinations like Okinawa and Sapporo during this summer vacation.
