JAL Group Passenger Traffic Results for 2017 Golden Week Vacation Period

JAL Group (JAL) today announced its passenger traffic results for the annual Japanese “Golden Week” vacation that stretched from Friday, April 28 to Sunday, May 7, 2017.

Compared to vacation period last year, capacity during this period is 0.9% less on international routes and increased 1.6% on domestic routes. JAL carried a total of 246,757 passengers on its international flights and 1,023,589 passengers on the Group’s domestic flights, which represent a 0.7% increase in travellers that went abroad, and 9.7% rise in travel within the country versus a year ago.

International Routes

  • Passenger traffic results improved slightly compared to the year-ago period.
  • Traffic on Korea and Europe routes showed higher load factor and increase of passengers thanks to growing demands of inbound travel to Japan compared to the same period in 2016.
  • Peak days for passenger departure from Japan started between April 28 and 30, as well as between May 2 and 3. Most return from overseas was from May 5 through 7.

 

Domestic Routes

  • Total Traffic results were better than last year including load factor and number of passengers.
  • Load factor on Tohoku/Hokuriku and Okinawa routes was higher than the year-ago period.
  • Peak days for trips were on April 29 and May 3. The return was busy on May 3 and from May 5 through 7.
