JAL Group Traffic Results for 2017 Summer Vacation Period
JAL Group (JAL) today announced passenger traffic results for the Japanese summer vacation period that spanned from August 10 to August 20, 2017. JAL carried a total of 301,298 passengers on its international flights during the 11-day stretch, and a total of 1,327,003 passengers domestically.
With 1.9% less seats offered on international routes this year, the number of passengers carried by JAL to and from overseas fell by 0.3%, leading to raise the seat load factor 1.5 points to 93.3% compared to the same period last year. JAL also operated one chartered flight from Tokyo (Narita) to Honolulu, two chartered flights from Honolulu to Narita, one chartered flight from Narita to Budapest, one chartered from Dublin to Narita, one chartered from Narita to Lisbon, and one chartered from Praha to Narita during this peak season.
Domestically, the number of passengers increased 3.5% in comparison to the same period last year. The overall load factor rose by approx. 2.3 percentage points to 87.3%. JAL also operated 40 extra flights, mainly to popular destinations like Okinawa, Sapporo and Nagasaki during this summer vacation.
