Expanding the partnership for the Landing of Dream Chaser® at Oita Airport -Realizing a Horizontal Spaceport in Oita-

Sierra Space Corporation, Japan Airlines Co., Ltd., Kanematsu Corporation, and Oita Prefecture are pleased to announce the participation of MUFG Bank, Ltd. and Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. in their partnership to explore the use of the Dream Chaser® space plane.
The partnership has been discussing a wide range of possibilities enabled by the realization of a horizontal spaceport, including the landing of a space plane at Oita Airport, addressing legal and regulatory issues, and establishing an economic zone around the spaceport. The ultimate goal is to utilize Oita Airport as an Asian base for the Dream Chaser space plane of Sierra Space.
With the addition of MUFG Bank, Ltd. and Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. to the partnership, all parties aim to accelerate efforts to realize the utilization of Oita Airport as a horizontal spaceport. This collaboration is expected to further expand the space-related industry in Japan and contribute to the creation of new industrial and business opportunities through the use of space.
