Japan Airlines Expands Inflight Wi-Fi Services on International & Domestic Flights Starting October 1

~Free Wi-Fi on International Flights, Video Streaming on Domestic Flights~

Tokyo, JAPAN – Japan Airlines (JAL) will enhance its inflight Wi-Fi service to provide a more comfortable
inflight experience for passengers. Starting October 1, 2024, the inflight Wi-Fi service will be expanded on
both international and domestic flights as follows:

【International Flights】
Currently, inflight Wi-Fi service is provided for a fee, except for First Class passengers. However, starting
from October 1, 2024, it will be available for free in all classes as follows:

Applicable Flights: All JAL international flights (excluding code-share flights)
Starting Date: From October 1, 2024 for flights departing from Japan
Free Usage Time:
First Class and Business Class: Unlimited (*1)
Premium Economy Class and Economy Class: 1 hour (*2)
Notes: In addition to video streaming services, voice and video calls are not available.
(*1) For unlimited time access, an exclusive promotion code is required.
(*2) After the free usage time ends, the service can be continued by purchasing a paid plan.

This service expansion allows passengers to easily use inflight Wi-Fi to gather travel information or
communicate on social media according to their needs.

【Domestic Flights】
The current free Wi-Fi service will be expanded to include video streaming services (*3) in addition to the
existing web browsing and email text communication.

Applicable Flights: JAL and JTA operated flights, J-AIR Embraer 190 (E90) operated flights
Starting Date: From October 1, 2024 (From late December for JTA operated flights)
Service Range: In addition to the currently available services, video streaming services (*4)
Notes: Voice and video calls are not available.
(*3) Streaming method that plays content without downloading it to the device.
(*4) For services that require a viewing contract, only those contracted by the passenger can be used.
  On flights operated with aircraft equipped with individual screens (A350, 787-8), there are restrictions
       on the sites that can be accessed due to system limitations.

Furthermore, with the expansion of inflight Wi-Fi services, passengers will be able to view the news site 'TBS NEWS DIG Powered by JNN,' which includes news from 28 JNN stations, in collaboration with TBS and JNN NEWS DIG. (Scheduled for the second half of 2024)

These service expansions will provide passengers with an inflight experience closer to that on the ground.

The JAL Group plans to introduce the Boeing 737-8 aircraft in fiscal 2026, equipped with the latest inflight Wi-Fi system. This advanced system will offer lower latency and higher capacity, ensuring faster and more comfortable connectivity for passengers.

Continued efforts will be made to expand and enhance inflight Wi-Fi services, making the onboard experience more meaningful and tailored to passenger needs. Anticipate further improvements in future inflight services.
