Tokyo, JAPAN - Japan Airlines (JAL) invites travelers to discover various regions of Japan through Japanese craft whisky produced at distilleries throughout the country. This is one of JAL’s initiatives to create relationships and societal connections through air transportation.
The twelfth product in this series is the “"AKKESHI HAKURO JAL Exclusive Baccarat Tumbler Set,” developed by Kenten Co., Ltd. a distillery led by CEO Keiichi Toita. The products will be available in limited quantities through international inflight sales starting December 1, 2025.
Prior to the sale, JAL Mileage Bank members will have an exclusive opportunity to enjoy the charms of the Akkeshi Distillery at a tasting event in Marunouchi, Tokyo, on Saturday, November 22, 2012. This event offers a special chance to experience the rich taste and aroma of the whisky produced by the Akkeshi Distillery with all five senses.　

Akkeshi Distillery

Akkeshi Distillery began distilling in Akkeshi-cho, Hokkaido in 2016, driven by a strong desire to produce whisky similar to Islay malt using traditional Scottish methods. The distillery creates delicate whisky unique among Japanese distilleries, in an environment comparable to Scotland's Islay, characterized by deep sea air fog, clear air, and abundant peat, while preserving the traditional Scottish process.

Product Introduction 

1.” THE AKKESHI Single Malt Japanese Whisky HAKURO”
The twelfth in the Twenty-Four Season series. It features aromas of bonfire smoke and Japanese citrus, along with hints of custard pudding, marmalade, and tangerine ginger and orange-flavored rum. The lingering taste includes notes of white pepper, salted lemon, citrus-like sweetness, and peel. This single malt whisky presents a style typical of Akkeshi.

2. “JAL Exclusive Baccarat Tumbler”
The Baccarat tumbler, named “Aria,” is a limited-edition product engraved with the JAL and Akkeshi logos. Like an aria that highlights an opera or choral piece, the elongated cuts engraved on the transparent crystal create a beautiful sparkle by overlapping, enhancing the enjoyment of Akkeshi whisky.

Tasting event to enjoy the charms of the Akkeshi Distillery with Baccarat glasses

On Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 1:00 p.m., Baccarat and Akkeshi distillery will hold a luxurious tasting event at Baccarat's bar
"B bar Marunouchi" in Marunouchi, Tokyo. Keiichi Toita, CEO of Kenten Co., Ltd. and Katsuyuki Tatsuzaki, Director and Chief Blender of Akkeshi distillery, will share their insights on the appeal and whisky-making process of Akkeshi Whisky. In addition, five types of rare whiskies, including "THE AKKESHI Single Malt Japanese Whisky SHOKAN,”
which is scheduled forrelease in late November, will be served in carefully selected Baccarat glasses.
Participants will enjoy tastings served in Baccarat glasses. Please join this rare and luxurious experience.
