Launch of New Transportation Service "JAL de Hako-byun" Integrating Shinkansen and Air Cargo Networks

- Promoting Regional Revitalization in Japan by Connecting Local Areas to Overseas Markets with a Fast One-Stop Transportation Service -

Tokyo, JAPAN — January 13, 2026, JALCARGO and the JR East Group are pleased to announce the launch of a new one-stop transportation service, "JAL de Hako-byun," which combines the strengths of the Shinkansen high-speed rail network and JAL’s global air cargo network.

Overview:
Leveraging the JR East Group’s extensive domestic network centered in eastern Japan and JALCARGO’s global air cargo network, the new service will be launched on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. This initiative follows a successful trial shipment from Sendai to Singapore in October 2025, demonstrating the service’s efficiency and reliability. Moving forward, both companies will deepen their collaboration to expand the transportation network and further enhance service offerings.

Highlights:
■Significantly Reduced Lead Time and High Punctuality
By integrating the frequent and punctual Shinkansen train service with JAL’s fast long-distance flights, this service achieves remarkable reductions in transit time compared to conventional transport methods.

■Extensive Network Connectivity
By combining the JR East Group’s regional rail network with JAL’s global air network, the service enables broader international market access, facilitating increased exports of premium local products from Japan.

■Contributing to Societal Challenges
Utilizing rail transport helps address driver shortages and reduces CO₂ emissions through modal shifts, thereby supporting sustainable logistics and environmental goals.

First Commercial Shipment: Seafood Export from Tsuruga to Taiwan
Shipment Date: January 13, 2026
Train Transport: Kagayaki No. 508 (Departs Tsuruga Station 09:21, Arrives Tokyo Station 12:36)Air Transport: JL 99 (Departs Haneda Airport 18:10, Arrives Taipei Songshan Airport 21:00 TST)
Customs Clearance: After arrival at Taipei Songshan Airport, cargo is transported by land to Taiwan Taoyuan Airport for customs clearance.
Cargo: Fukui Prefecture’s specialty seafood, including Echizen crab, Tsuruga sea bream, and Wakasa grouper.
