JAL Selected for Dow Jones Best-in-Class Asia Pacific Index for the Fourth Consecutive Year
Tokyo, JAPAN - Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (JAL) has been selected for the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Asia Pacific Index for the fourth consecutive year. This index, part of the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices (DJBIC Indices), is a leading Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investment benchmark consisting of companies from the Asia-Pacific region.
In addition to the DJBIC Asia Pacific Index, JAL has been included in various other leading ESG investment indices such as the FTSE Blossom Japan Index and the FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index. *1
DJBIC Indices are renowned ESG investment benchmarks that comprehensively analyze and evaluate the corporate activities of over 13,000 leading global companies. They select companies excelling in sustainability across governance, economic, environmental, and social aspects. This recognition is highly significant for investors prioritizing corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
In this year's assessment, JAL received the highest rating within the airline industry in areas such as multi-stakeholder engagement for decarbonization, packaging material management including single-use plastic reduction, human capital management, and occupational health & safety. The company also earned high ratings for disclosures based on the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)*2 and the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD)*3 recommendations, as well as efforts in human rights and privacy protection. *4
