JAL APPLIES FOR 2% INCREASE ON INTERNATIONAL FARES DEPARTING FROM JAPAN TO SOUTH EAST ASIA, CHINA, MICRONESIA
Tokyo, March 4, 2005: JAL today filed an application with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) for approval to revise international fares to and from Japan, effective April 1st, 2005.
Based on a recent agreement by the members of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the worldwide airline industry organization, JAL has requested that normal First, Business and Economy fares on routes departing from Japan to South East Asia, China and Micronesia be increased by 2%. This adds to an existing application filed on February 10, 2005.
If the filing is implemented, the increase will apply to all normal fares on routes departing from Japan. The exceptions will be fares to Central and South America where the increase will vary from 2% to 8% according to the fare category.
The proposed agreement is subject to government approval.
