JAL Increases Flight Frequency on Tokyo - Shanghai Route

Tokyo, October 18, 2006: From October 29, 2006 JAL will increase international passenger, and cargo flight frequency between Tokyo and Shanghai, further strengthening its network between China and Japan.

JAL will introduce a fourth daily non-stop passenger service between Tokyo and Shanghai, increasing flight frequency between the two cities from 21 to 28 flights per week. With the addition of the new daily service, JAL will offer 101 round-trip flights per week between Japan and Shanghai.

Including China Eastern Airlines code shares, JAL currently provides direct flights between Shanghai and six cities in Japan: Tokyo (Narita), Osaka (Kansai), Fukuoka, Nagoya (Chubu), Komatsu and Sapporo. JAL also offers same day connection code share services onward from Shanghai to the Chinese cities of Chengdu, Chongqing and Shenzen (operated by China Eastern Airlines).

Announced earlier this year, JAL will also increase from October 29, 2006 flight frequency on the international passenger services it operates between Tokyo - Xiamen, Tokyo - Guangzhou, and Nagoya (Chubu) - Guangzhou, as well as on the cargo service it operates between Tokyo - Guangzhou.

By the end of calendar year 2006, JAL's international passenger network between Japan and China - the largest network between the two countries - will serve 13 Chinese cities on 30 routes with a total of 271 flights per week (on round trip basis including code shares).

On October 29, 2006 JAL will also introduce an additional international cargo flight between Narita and Shanghai departing Japan on Sundays using a B747-400F. This will increase the number of freighter flights operated on the route from 5 to 6 per week.

As a result, JAL's international cargo network will expand to serve 4 cities in China on 6 routes with a total of 35 flights per week.
