JAL Relocates to Moscow Domodedovo International Airport

Tokyo September 4, 2007: JAL will relocate in Moscow to Domodedovo International Airport (DME) from Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO) on December 14 2007, to increase the comfort and convenience of passengers using the airline's Narita - Moscow route.

Currently, 72 airlines fly to 223 domestic and overseas destinations from DME. This will provide passengers using JAL with numerous flight connection options. The airport is particularly convenient for passengers traveling onward to other destinations in Russia such as St Petersburg, or to neighboring countries including Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). International and domestic flights are both handled at the same terminal, providing passengers with connecting flights with smooth transfers.

For customer comfort, the airport has more than 70 restaurants, cafes and retail outlets as well as a 24-hour Internet-center. Wireless Internet access is available in various locations in the airport. At the "MOVIE POINT”, passengers can rent a private room and DVD and watch a movie. Passengers traveling with youngsters are catered for at the airports entertainment center, Baby-Land.

Domodedovo Airport is conveniently located just 42km southeast of the centre of Moscow. From downtown Moscow, the airport can be reached by car in approximately 60 minutes, and using the high-speed Aeroexpress train it takes about 40 minutes.

JAL normally operates 2 flights per week between Narita and Moscow (JL441/442), but for 4 months starting from June it offers a 3-flights-per-week service. Business class and economy class cabins are available on the route. The airline operates a state-of-the-art Boeing 777-200ER aircraft fitted with JAL's award-winning business class seat, the JAL Shell Flat seat. In both business and economy classes passengers can enjoy Magic III, JAL's innovative AVOD (audio/ visual on-demand) personal TV in-flight entertainment system, offering a wide selection of movies, programs, music and games.

In 1967, JAL established an office in Moscow, and sold passengers seats on Aeroflot operated aircraft flying between Tokyo and Moscow. JAL first started its own flight operations between the two cities in 1970 using DC8.

`One of the strategy objectives of East Line Group, the managing company of Moscow Domodedovo International Airport is, using the potential provided by the unique geographical location of the Moscow Aviation Node to its fullest, to establish a Domodedovo based hub which would link air traffics of Europe and Asia-Pacific region. The arrival of JAL, the largest carrier in Japan, is an important step in this direction', said Sergey Rudakov, General Director, Moscow Domodedovo International Airport.

JAL Group Chief Executive Officer Haruka Nishimatsu said: Domodedovo International Airport is an airport committed to improving its passenger service standards and also proactively meeting the demand of its airline customers. JAL looks forward to servicing its customers with high quality at Domodedovo International Airport.

Moscow Domodedovo International Airport is the largest and the most advanced Russian airport and the national market leader in terms of the domestic and international passenger and cargo traffic it processes. It is forecast that overall passenger traffic processed by the airport in 2007 will amount to 18,5 million people. According to ACI Europe, Domodedovo International Airport has the highest rating among the most dynamically developing European airports of Group 2 (i.e., airports with 10-25 million passenger traffic per annum). Since 2004, Skytrax, an independent research company, based on customer survey has been continuously rating Domodedovo International Airport as one of the top three airports of Central and Eastern Europe. Domodedovo's modern infrastructure and excellent service quality attract a growing number of Russian and foreign airlines.
