Press Release
JAL Group Announces Flight Frequency and Fleet Plans for FY2019
JAL Group (JAL) today announced its flight frequency and fleet plans on both international and domestic routes during FY2019. (ending March 31, 2020)
For international routes, in an effort to match the travel demand between Japan and Russia, JAL will offer daily flights on its Tokyo (Narita) = Moscow (Domodedovo) service from March 31, 2019. The carrier launched the service to Moscow in 1967 and following the relaxation of visa requirements, the demand for this route has steadily increased over the years.
In terms of product, the JAL SKY SUITE configured aircraft1 will be introduced on the carrier`s Tokyo (Narita) = Vancouver, Tokyo (Narita) = San Diego and Osaka (Kansai) = Los Angeles route. As a result, JAL’s long-haul routes in North America, Europe and Australia will all feature fully-flat Business Class seats and the award winning JAL Sky Wider product in Economy Class by the summer of 2019.
The carrier will be celebrating its 65th anniversary since launching the Honolulu route in 1954 and plans to enhance various services based on a new concept called Style yourself ~JAL HAWAII~2. In addition, JAL will offer First Class service between April 26-May 5, 2019 and during the peak summer travel season between August 8-17, 2019 on one of its Tokyo (Narita) = Honolulu flights.
For Japan-domestic routes, JAL will increase flights on its Haneda = Sapporo (New-Chitose) and Haneda = Okinawa (Naha) route to adjust to the travel demand on these popular destinations. JAL will also maintain the operation of two daily flights between Haneda and Yamagata following the approval of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
Furthermore, JAL plans to introduce the highly anticipated Airbus A350-900 aircraft3 on its Haneda = Fukuoka route from September 2019 and will also look to introduce the carrier`s first domestic-configured Boeing 787-8 aircraft4 on its Haneda = Osaka (Itami) route. Both aircraft feature state-of-the-art technology and will contribute to the reduction of noise emissions.
All flights and schedules listed on this release are subject to government approval.
The JAL Group will continue to embrace new challenges to deliver greater customer convenience, enhance its networks, and improve the quality of its products and services.
