      KANOSUKE HIOKI POT STILL 2024 LIMITED EDITION                                                      SINGLE MALT KANOSUKE

 

Tokyo, JAPAN – Japan Airlines (JAL) aims to encourage visitors to explore various parts of Japan by purchasing and enjoying Japanese craft whisky produced at craft distilleries scattered throughout the country. This is a part of JAL’s initiative to create relationships and societal connections through air transportation.
As the sixth product in this series, a limited number of KANOSUKE HIOKI POT STILL 2024 LIMITED EDITION, a Japanese style pot still whisky from the KANOSUKE DISTILLERY (by Komasa Kanosuke Distillery Co., Ltd.,) will be available through an advanced limited order on international flights.
SINGLE MALT KANOSUKE, the first standard product of the KANOSUKE DISTILLERY, will also be available on all international flights.

1. KANOSUKE HIOKI POT STILL 2024 LIMITED EDITION
KANOSUKE HIOKI POT STILL 2024 LIMITED EDITION is the first batch derived from KANOSUKE HIOKI POT STILL, a Japanese-style pot still whisky using unblended whisky that was cask-matured in KANOSUKE DISTILLERY’s dunnage warehouse. This whisky uses unmalted barley and malted barley as ingredients at the HIOKI DISTILLERY and is stored in brand new American white oak casks, bourbon casks, and shochu charred casks. The harmony of bitterness and sweetness sets it apart from the standard product.
This whisky features the aroma of crème brûlée, fresh oak, apricots, and green plums, blended with vanilla, caramel sauce, charred oak, cocoa, and matcha flavors that unfold on the palate, giving a full-bodied, sweet-bitter finish.

2. SINGLE MALT KANOSUKE
SINGLE MALT KANOSUKE is a mellow flagship whisky from KANOSUKE DISTILLERY. Made from three lightly peated pot stills, it is aged in re-charred American white oak casks as the key cask used to mature Shochu Mellowed Kozuru. This Japanese single malt whisky is highly acclaimed both in Japan and abroad.
The aroma is sweet, like honey and lemon tea. It has a spicy flavor reminiscent of garlic and ginger with a hint of smokiness that spreads on the palate, followed by a gentle and long-lasting taste of elegant, sweet bitterness.

SINGLE MALT KANOSUKE is also available at JAL's Salon in the JAL First Class Lounge at Haneda and Narita Airports and on First Class and Business Class international flights, excluding flights to South Korea. Please be aware that the number of bottles is limited and may not be available.

3. KANOSUKE Distillery
Founded in 1883, KOMASA JOZO, which continued to produce shochu at the HIOKI DISTILLERY in Kagoshima Prefecture, created Japan's first barrel-aged shochu, aiming to spread this around the world. Inheriting this intention, Yoshitsugu Komasa, the fourth generation, launched KANOSUKE DISTILLERY in 2017 along Fukiage Beach in Hioki City, Kagoshima Prefecture. His intention was to apply the authentic 60-year-old shochu barrel-aging technology to create whisky, a common global distilled liquor, to attract people around the world. Based on Kagoshima's long history of authentic shochu distilling techniques, the distillery applies its expertise in fermentation, distillation, barrel-aging, and blending to produce mellow whisky with all its heart and soul while overlooking the magnificent scenery of the East China Sea and Fukiage beach.
