Press Release
JAL Group Route, Flight Frequency and Fleet Plans for First Half of FY 2012
TOKYO, January 17, 2012: The JAL Group (JAL) announced today, its route, fleet and flight frequency plans for the first half of fiscal year 2012 (year ending March 31, 2013).
Significant events in the six months between April and September 2012 include the inauguration of the first nonstop connection between Tokyo, Narita and Boston on April 22, and the start of operations of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner by JAL. Capacity on existing routes has also been adjusted to maximize load factors and collectively boost profitability.
In addition to using the 787 on the new transpacific route this spring - also the first direct connection between Boston and Asia, JAL plans to deploy the Dreamliner on five existing routes in JAL’s international network from the end of March this year.
Domestically, to match market demands and to provide customers with more options, JAL will reinstate the services between Fukuoka and Hanamaki, as well as between Niigata and Sapporo. JAL will also schedule an increase in flight frequencies on nine other routes from Tokyo, Haneda.
