Tokyo, JAPAN―The JAL Group is actively working to generate international travel demand to and from Japan, while expanding relationships and connections through travel within domestic regions.

JAL is leveraging its resources and partnerships with other airlines to the fullest extent to support the Japanese government's goal of welcoming 60 million international visitors by 2030, and to help revitalize local economies by bringing international travelers directly to regional Japan. As the second phase of those efforts, JAL is expanding the cooperation with its joint business partner Malaysia Airlines which is launching a new route between Fukuoka and Kuala Lumpur on September 2.

By connecting regions with urban centers and the world via its robust aviation network, and bringing people closer together, the JAL Group is fully committed to creating social and economic value for the regions and to the development of a sustainable society.

Phase 2 Key Initiatives:
●Codeshare on Fukuoka - Kuala Lumpur Route:
Starting August 7, 2026, JAL will begin codeshare sales on the new route between Fukuoka and Kuala Lumpur operated by Malaysia Airlines (launching September 2, 2026).
●Domestic Codeshare Expansion:
Malaysia Airlines will add its code to JAL-operated domestic flights originating from and arriving at Fukuoka Airport. This will significantly enhance flight connectivity across Japan for inbound travellers and strengthen Fukuoka's position as an international gateway.
●Double Miles Campaign:
To mark the launch, JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) members will be able to earn double flight miles on eligible codeshare flights.

 Campaign Overview: Fukuoka - Kuala Lumpur Double Miles
To celebrate the launch, JAL will hold a Double Miles Campaign whereby members of the JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) will receive 100% bonus miles in addition to regular flight miles if they register for the campaign and fly on eligible flights.

Registration Period :August 7, 2026 - October 31, 2026
Travel Period :September 2, 2026 - March 31, 2027
Eligible Travelers :JMB members from all regions
Eligible Flights :JL7098 and JL7099 (Fukuoka - Kuala Lumpur)
